Viva con Agua

25hours Hotels is supporting the charitable organisation Viva con Agua St. Pauli e.V. in its ONE WASH PROGRAM UGANDA (water, sanitation, hygiene). As part of this collaboration, the 25hours All For Water rate will be posted live for several weeks each year.

748 million people worldwide have no access to clean drinking water. More than 2.5 billion people have no adequate basic sanitation. These statistics concerned the former FC St. Pauli footballer Benjamin Adrion so much that he founded the Viva con Agua association in 2006. It supports international water projects in cooperation with the German Welthungerhilfe organisation.

25hours Hotels has supported Viva con Agua in its water projects since 2016. The ONE WASH PROGRAM IN UGANDA aims to continue ensuring and developing access to safe drinking water, as well as the availability of WASH facilities and services, in approximately 50 communities in Karamoja and the West Nile.

In order to achieve a long-term impact, Viva con Agua applies the systemic approach enshrined in the Sustainable Services Initiative (SSI). This is assisted by the Universal Languages4Behaviour Change in the form of art, music and sport.

Current projects in Asia and Africa range from building latrines and drilling wells to educational measures to put the principles into practice. The term WASH in these project stands for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. The objective in each case is ‘Water for all – All for water’.

The association has strong networks, which it uses creatively to generate donations. Just a few of the ways in which the association raises money for the good cause include the collection of cup deposits at now 140 festivals, proceeds from the sale of the in-house mineral water brand Viva con Agua and sponsored runs. So far, Viva con Agua has managed to raise around EUR 12 million to finance water projects and sustainably improve the living conditions of more than three million people.
