The artistic heart of the 25hours Hotel Langstrasse is the art project “Artist in Hotel Residence”. The studio on the ground floor is available as a work space for invited artists. At the end of their stay, artists in residence donate a work to the hotel’s art collection.

Esther Eppstein

Artist in Hotel Residence is curated by Esther Eppstein, an artist based in Zurich. Esther Eppstein is known in the Zurich art scene for her 30 years of work with the art project message salon. She has received several awards for her artistic and curatorial practice, including the Grand Prix Meret Oppenheim 2021, the Swiss Federal Art Award.

Like every summer, two international artists are invited to take part in a vibrant residency. They stay at the hotel and transform the Atelier into their personal studio space.
To wrap things up, Open Studio events offer a glimpse behind the scenes. Visitors are welcome to drop by, discover the artworks created during the residency, meet the artists, and enjoy cheesecake, snacks, and a glass of bubbly.

Xinyi Fox Hu, Guangdong, China, currently based in Paris
29. June to 11. July 2026

In collaboration with sinokultur, Zurich

Open Studio: Saturday, 11 July, 4–7pm

Tina Müller, founder of sinokultur, about the Artist in Hotel Residence:

“sinokultur is an independent association based in Zurich that promotes and mediates Chinese art and culture. We met Xinyi Fox Hu during our sinokultur trip to Geneva in the summer of 2024. She invited us into her studio and introduced us to her ceramic works. We were immediately drawn to their fairylike, organic presence. Portraying both natural elements and fictional creatures, Xinyi Fox Hu’s ceramic works form chapters of an imaginary book in progress, in which different species evolve within specific environments. These beings act as storytellers of an alien organic life, inviting viewers to imagine and immerse themselves in narratives of growth through sensory engagement. We are delighted to invite Xinyi Fox Hu to the residency and deeply appreciate her poetic artistic language. During her stay at the 25hours Hotel Langstrasse, she will explore Zurich and enter into a dialogue with the city’s own magical creatures.”

Hilla Toony Navok, Tel Aviv
10. to 22. August 2026

In collaboration with Omanut, Zurich

Open Studio: Saturday, 22 August, 4–7pm

Susanna Koberle, cultural journalist and member of the Omanut board, about the Artist in Hotel Residence:

“The association Omanut – Hebrew for ‘art’– is a Swiss forum for Jewish art and culture and also welcomes a non-Jewish audience. This year, Omanut is celebrating its 85th anniversary. In 2020, Omanut hosted a talk with the Israeli artist Hilla Toony Navok in Zurich to mark the occasion of her first exhibition in Switzerland. She gave us an insight into her multimedia artistic practice and her critical and humorous view of urban space. Hilla Toony Navok explores the interaction of city dwellers with their surroundings.
When Esther Eppstein invited Omanut to propose an artist for the hotel’s residency programme, the board considered it important to build on and strengthen an existing connection. The 25hours Hotel and the vibrant Langstrasse neighbourhood will provide an inspirational setting for Hilla Toony Navok’s artistic approach.”
