HafenCity

Wanderlust and nostalgia: Cosy berths with
stories of sea voyages and distant ports

About the Hotel

a girl in every port.

Constantly growing and ever changing: HafenCity, with the Elbphilharmonie as the city's new landmark, is like the port of Hamburg itself. With its shipping containers and the mighty Elbe, it is an integral part of the interior design concept at the 25hours Hotel Hamburg HafenCity, which was developed by Hamburg-based Stephen Williams Associates in cooperation with Eventlabs and storyteller Markus Stoll and set designer Conni Kotte. In the central HafenCity district, guests can quench their thirst for travel in their rooms. Sailors’ yarns and a history of the port included. The ground floor of the 25hours Hotel HafenCity aspires to be a living room for the whole neighbourhood, and can be a relaxed lounge or a bustling bar, depending on the time of day. The restaurant Heimat serves your favourite dishes made from responsibly-sourced ingredients.

ride it like you stole it.

We’re absolutely convinced: the best way to explore Hamburg is on wheels. That’s why we’re determined to offer our guests the city’s coolest speedsters – like the bikes from our friends at Schindelhauer. Siegfried, Ludwig, Viktor or Lotte will be awaiting the visitor for a leisurely bike tour through the Hamburger Speicherstadt and HafenCity. On board you’ll find a tour map of the most charming routes round the city, curated by bike professionals especially for 25hours.

ready for relaxation.

Perched right at the top of the hotel is the Hafensauna. Designed with fans of the traditional Finnish sauna in mind rather than modern-day spa-goers, it is a no-frills affair up on the sixth floor. There may sometimes be a stiff breeze, but great views are guaranteed. To cool off, guests simply step straight outside where they can look out over the port and the cruise ship terminal.

seek & find.

In conjunction with the publishing house mare Verlag and in the tradition of grand old hotels, there is a mare kiosk on the ground floor. As well as essentials for hotel guests, it stocks books and magazines published by mare Verlag and Ginko Press. The shop also sells art and knick-knacks from Northern Germany along with items from our cooperation partners.

Hamburg’s Got Groove

Hamburg’s iconic Elbphilharmonie is just as famous for its insane acoustics as it is for its programme, which weaves traditional classical music together with rock bands, festivals, and jazz — like the Scandinavian piano band Rymden, for example. On the occasion of their concert, we met the jazz trio in the so-called ‘Elphi’, where we delved into the history of the concert hall and considered, among other questions, whether jazz is the classical music of the 21st century.

The Science of Scent

Subtle and seductive, the aroma molecule Iso E Super was created in a laboratory in 1973. Many more scents later, COMPANION visited Schön at his Berlin apartment and lab to get a whiff of the chemistry behind his ‘anti-fragrances’, and glean his take on the wellness industry’s obsession with nature (hint: it’s overrated).
