Langstrasse

The little universe right beside
the central station, with oriental world cuisine

About the Hotel

a lalalala long.

Red high heels and fishnet stockings, ties and tailor-made suits - worlds collide at the junction between the lively Langstrasse and the ultra-modern Europaallee. Business meetings take place during the day, and in the evenings, the neon lights flicker above the bars. Inspired by the contrasts between banking and the red-light district, between art and capitalism, the designer Werner Aisslinger and his team see the 25hours Hotel Zurich Langstrasse created a self-contained microcosm. Regularly changing resident artists ensure a steady flow of creative input. At the heart of the 25hours Hotel Langstrasse is the ground floor, home to the Cinchona Bar and NENI. Here, Zurich natives and urban explorers can meet for an Oriental lunch or dinner - and for a digestif afterwards. The 170 rooms are comfortable sanctuaries with design elements inspired by themes from the red light district, the bourgeoisie, or the world’s penthouses.

ride it like you stole it.

We’re absolutely convinced: The best way to explore Zurich is on wheels. That’s why we’re determined to offer our guests the city’s coolest speedsters – like the bikes from our friends at Schindelhauer. Siegfried, Ludwig, Viktor or Lotte will be awaiting the visitor for a leisurely bike tour through the neighbourhood. On board you’ll find a tour map of the most charming routes round the city, curated by bike professionals especially for 25hours.

good things are going to happen.

The artistic heart of the 25hours Hotel Zurich Langstrasse is the hotel’s studio on the ground floor. It is a workspace for international and domestic artists, who produce and prepare for their exhibitions, presentations, or collaborations on-site. The hotel’s studio is occupied by guest artists for 12 to 14 weeks, each year. A residency can last from one to four weeks. Each artist leaves one of their artworks behind at the hotel at the end of their residency. The art collection can be viewed at the hotel, free of charge. The studio is curated and managed by Esther Eppstein, an artist and curator from Zurich.

The 25hours Hotel Zurich Langstrasse is also a pawn shop. Not enough cash to pay for your hotel accommodation? Or do you have something at home that deserves a larger audience? The 25hours Hotel Zurich Langstrasse could well be the first hotel in the world where you can pay for your stay with art and stuff. Pretty, valuable, decorative and/or useful things are accepted in place of payment. Small items of furniture, art, technology and curios are welcome: we like surprises. Depending on availability, you can put yourself forward for accommodation with breakfast on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. You can find more information here.

In collaboration with Zurich's bag label, FREITAG, there is also a bag library, where guests can always borrow the right bag.

The Science of Scent

Subtle and seductive, the aroma molecule Iso E Super was created in a laboratory in 1973. In 2006, the master perfumer Geza Schön bottled it pure to create Molecule 01 — a fragrance that fast gained a cult following the world over. Many more scents later, COMPANION visited Schön at his Berlin apartment and lab to get a whiff of the chemistry behind his ‘anti-fragrances’, and glean his take on the wellness industry’s obsession with nature (hint: it’s overrated).
