In 2012, Sebastian Backhaus and Leopold Brötzmann designed their own bike furniture for their own use. Berlin-based design studio MIKILI – Bicycle Furniture was born out of this idea. It was to be the first furniture brand to offer a wide range of bicycle racks for the home and workplace.
Since then MIKILI – Bicycle Furniture has combined passion and expertise for urban cycling culture and modern furniture design. High-quality materials, precise manufacturing and love for detail are at the centre of their work.
In all fields of activity, MIKILI – Bicycle Furniture observes only the highest standards when it comes to design, quality and sustainability – and uses nearby workshops in Berlin for its production. Long-term working relationships with suppliers and producers are just as important as the passion for the bikes themselves.
In addition to its own product lines, the design studio also plans, designs and creates individual solutions for customers such as the 25hours Hotel Bikini Berlin. Any guest staying in one of the 23 rooms in the Urban L category can enjoy free and exclusive use of a Schindelhauer bike for the duration of their stay so they can get around the city quickly, flexibly and save the environment at the same time.
The new 25hours hotel in Berlin is chapters ahead of its competitors in terms of design and love for detail, making it the new city-centre hotspot. In addition to all the flexibility that the hotel offers its guests, what particualrly impresses us is that Schindelhauer bikes can be hired out for free. Mobility made easy and a portion of style to go with it.Sebastian Backhaus - Co-Founder MIKILI
