Die Seenotretter

The 25hours Hotels in Hamburg are supporting the sea rescuers with donation boxes at the reception of both hotels. The German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked (DGzRS) operates 60 rescue units at 55 stations along the North and Baltic Seas, providing search and rescue services independently and voluntarily. Comprising mostly of 1,000 volunteers, these dedicated individuals, within minutes, man rescue boats and venture into the sea, often putting themselves in harm's way to save others. Funded solely through voluntary donations and without government support, the DGzRS has been at the forefront of maritime rescue for almost 160 years, with its commitment showcased annually on the last Sunday of July, designated as the Day of the Sea Rescuer.
